WHY WE EXIST
Homes require constant attention, but life gets busy. Small maintenance items can be easy to overlook, and changes around the home can gradually create safety concerns.
Cornerstone Home Safety exists to give homeowners and families a dependable second set of eyes—helping identify concerns earlier, make home maintenance easier to understand, and provide greater confidence in the place they live.
Experience You Can Trust. Service You Can Depend On.
Del Birkhoff is a Certified Senior Home Safety Specialist® (SHSS) through Age Safe® America. His training equips him to identify common safety risks within the home and recommend practical improvements that support comfort, accessibility, and independent living.
In addition to his professional certification, Del brings more than 20 years of hands-on experience owning, building, renovating, maintaining, and repairing homes. As the owner of multiple properties, he understands what it takes to keep a home safe, functional, and properly maintained.
Del combines specialized home-safety knowledge with real-world construction and maintenance experience. He carefully evaluates each property, explains his findings in clear language, and recommends sensible solutions based on the homeowner’s needs and priorities.
Del believes that everyone deserves to feel safe and confident in their own home. His goal is to help older adults maintain their independence, give families greater peace of mind, and assist busy homeowners with the maintenance needs that are easy to overlook.
Every assessment and service begins with careful attention to the client’s concerns. Del provides honest recommendations without unnecessary pressure, helping homeowners make informed decisions about their property.
Del’s dedication to senior home safety is deeply personal. His father recently passed away following complications from a fall—an experience that strengthened Del’s commitment to helping prevent similar tragedies for other families.
His purpose is to identify potential hazards and make seniors’ homes safer, more comfortable, and easier to navigate. Through every assessment and service, Del hopes to reduce the risk of falls, help older adults maintain their independence, and provide greater peace of mind to their loved ones.
My goal is to help seniors remain safe and confident in their own homes. If I can help prevent another family from experiencing the loss that mine has endured, then this work has a truly meaningful purpose.

WHY CORNERSTONE
Rather than trying to win only by offering more handyman tasks, Cornerstone focuses on what actually keeps a home — and the people who live in it — safer.
I have known Del and his family for more than 15 years, and throughout that time, I have admired his heart and passion for people, as well as his commitment to doing things the right way.
Del’s attention to detail in his personal life naturally carries over into his work. He is a lifelong learner who continually seeks to grow, and he uses the wisdom he gains to pour into and encourage others. His character, integrity, and genuine care for people are evident in everything he does.
I’ve known Del for years as both a friend and a neighbor. Whenever I’ve had questions about home repairs, he’s offered practical, thoughtful advice. I trust his judgement and appreciate how willing he is to help.
Del is a wonderful neighbor who is always willing to help with my home, whether I need advice or a helping hand. He is reliable, thoughtful, and attentive to detail. He has even taught my son how to mow the lawn and check our sprinkler system. I’m lucky to have him as a neighbor.
I have known Del for 20+ years and trust him. Del has remodeled 8-10 homes to reside in or flip houses to resale. I have seen the premium material and excellent craftsmanship. When he told me about his father’s death due to a fall, I felt horrible for him and his family. The senior safety program is the perfect fit for Del. He can use the years of hands-on experience to make other homes safe. What a great way to serve the community and prevent another tragedy.
COMMON QUESTION
Yes. Adult children can request an assessment for a parent or family member. We will coordinate the visit with the homeowner, confirm permission and keep everyone clear about what will be reviewed. If you live out of town, tell us what you are concerned about in the scheduling form.
